Tracy Lee Warusevitane

I grew up in a small town in New Zealand, surrounded by wide-open landscapes, changing seasons, and the kind of natural beauty that invites you to slow down and notice the world. From the moment I could hold a paintbrush, I was creating. Art wasn't something I discovered later in life. It was simply part of who I was.

As a child, I fully expected to go to art school and become an artist. But somewhere along the way, I absorbed the fears and beliefs of others. I heard that being an artist was difficult, uncertain, and unrealistic. So instead of following my dream, I chose a different path.

I moved to Dunedin to study a Bachelor of Arts in Design and a Bachelor of Commerce in Marketing. While creativity remained a constant in my life, my curiosity extended far beyond the art world. I became fascinated by people, what drives us, what holds us back, and how we can grow into the fullest version of ourselves. This led me into careers in marketing, coaching, writing, and personal development. I spent years learning about mindset, purpose, courage, and what it truly means to create a meaningful life.

At the same time, I explored the world.

I travelled extensively through Europe, North America, South America, Asia, and the South Pacific, collecting experiences, perspectives, and stories along the way. I lived and worked in places as diverse as Prague, Vermont, and a ski field in Canada. I met my husband in Peru. Every adventure taught me something new about myself and about life.

After years of travel, I moved to Melbourne, a city I now proudly call home. Melbourne's vibrant creative culture and diverse community felt like the perfect place to put down roots. Yet my love of exploration remains as strong as ever, and I continue to travel whenever I can, seeking new experiences, inspiration, and perspectives that inevitably find their way into my work.

Through all of it, art remained my constant companion.

No matter what job I held or what country I found myself in, I was always creating. Painting was the thread that connected every chapter of my life. It was the thing I kept returning to, even when I called it a hobby or something I did "on the side."

Eventually, I realised that art wasn't following me. It was calling me.

The years I spent studying personal development taught me something important: the biggest limitations are often the ones we place on ourselves. Once I stopped listening to the voices that told me what was practical and started trusting my own voice instead, everything changed. I finally gave myself permission to pursue the life I had always imagined.

Today, I create art that celebrates growth, possibility, joy, and the adventure of being alive.

My work is inspired by the same things that inspire my life: travel, colour, connection, courage, curiosity, and the belief that life is meant to be experienced fully. I am endlessly fascinated by the beauty of the world, the resilience of people, and our ability to continue growing no matter where we are in our journey.

Colour plays a huge role in my work. I've always been drawn to vibrant palettes and expressive marks that evoke energy, optimism, and emotion. I want my paintings to feel alive. I want them to remind people of places they've been, dreams they're pursuing, people they love, and possibilities they may have forgotten.

At its heart, my art is about helping people reconnect with what matters most.

I believe life is an extraordinary adventure. We are here for such a short time, and I want to make the most of every moment through travel, family, creativity, connection, and continuous growth. My paintings are an extension of that philosophy. They are invitations to live boldly, embrace wonder, and remember that there is beauty all around us if we choose to see it.

Every painting begins as an exploration. A conversation between intuition and intention. A journey into the unknown. Through layers of colour, texture, and movement, I search for moments of meaning and connection.

My hope is that when someone lives with one of my pieces, they are reminded of their own journey, the places they've been, the person they're becoming, and the incredible privilege of being alive.

Because art, like life, is an adventure.

And I believe the best adventures are the ones that help us discover who we truly are.
